Work Portfolio - Tourist Refund Scheme

The Tourist Refund Scheme was implemented after Australia decided it needed a GST. By putting a 10% tax on everything one purchases in Australia, overseas visitors could get reimbursed for GST paid on goods, making Australia a more desirable tourist destination.

Hence, Bligh Voller Nield were engaged by Government departments to design a generic TRS "booth" that could be constructed in all international airports.

In June 2000, Bligh Voller Nield engaged VRgrafix to prepare 3D views and create a photomontage of the proposal in poster format for discussions with the ministers and relevant departments.

As usual, the tight deadline limited how much of the surrounding airport we could model, but the end result was quite pleasing.

The model was revisited after the meeting and colours revised. New images were generated and was given the thumbs up by all concerned.

TRS booths are now built and operating in all international airports in Australia.
